子曰： 〝君子成人之美，不成人之恶。小人反是。〞

        孔子说：〝君子成全别人的好事，不去促成别人的坏事。小人与此相反。〞

【English Translation】

Confucius said: "A gentleman helps others fulfill good deeds and never helps them to do bad. A petty man does just the opposite. "

【原文】

季康子问政于孔子，孔子对曰：〝政者，正也。子师以正，孰敢不正？〞

【參考译文】

季康子向孔子询问政务，孔子说：〝所谓政就是端正。您自己行为端正作表率，谁敢不端正呢？〞

【English Translation】

Ji Kang Zi asked Confucius about the way to govern. 

Confucius answered: "To govern means to be upright. If you lead the people justly, who will dare not to be upright? "

季康子患盗，向于孔子。孔子对曰：〝苟子之不欲，虽赏之不窃。〞

【參考译文】

季康子担忧盗贼太多，向孔子请教。孔子回答说：〝如果您不贪求太多的财货，就是奬励盗窃，也没人会去偷盗的。〞

【English Translation】

Ji Kang Zi was worried that there were too many thieves and consulted Confucius about it. Confucius replied: "If you had not been greedy and had not accumulated so much wealth, even if a burglar is rewarded to rob you, he wouldn’t do it. "
